The Thyroid Foundation of America (TFA) was founded in 1985 by
Dr. Lawrence C. Wood with a grant from two individuals whose mother
died of thyroid cancer. A membership organization, TFA is supported
by contributions. Information, support services, and referrals
to thyroid specialists are free to all.
TFA seeks to ensure timely, accurate diagnosis, appropriate
treatment, and ongoing support for all individuals with thyroid
disease. TFA educates and encourages individuals with thyroid
disorders by providing medically accurate information and referrals
to thyroid specialists and by working with other thyroid-related
patient and physician associations to improve the quality and
accessibility of thyroid information and education.
The abbreviated description "The Website of the Thyroid Foundation
of America (http://www.allthyroid.org)" is also acceptable.
Links to individual pages within the TFA Website are also permissible;
provided attribution is made to TFA and any descriptive notes accurately
reflect the content of the linked page(s).
